Looking for snowmobile events in Montana? The Montana Snowmobile Association (MSA) connects riders, families, and clubs through events held across the state all winter long. From community rides and safety clinics to fundraisers and statewide gatherings, our events celebrate the sport of snowmobiling while supporting local clubs and trail programs.

Essential Club Training, Classes & Noteworthy Events

Annual Snowmobile Award Nominations
​The great sport of snowmobiling thrives thanks to the many dedicated volunteers who work behind the scenes to create, maintain, and protect the places we ride. Each year, MSA recognizes those who go above and beyond the call of duty. Nominees must be MSA members. Encourage your fellow club members to join if they haven't already! For more details, visit our 'Awards' page. 
Nominations Due: December 31
Montana Snowmobile Instructor Safety Certification Class
Hosted by FWP, this certification is held bi-annually for current and prospective safety instructors to provide training for unlicensed youth riders. Recertification is required every 2 years.

Youth Operator Education Classes
Hosted by local clubs and the MSA, these classes are an important milestone in educating our next generation of riders. To learn more or set up a class in your area, please contact Fred Bailey for more information about this program. (Seasonal)

High School Juniors & Seniors
"Life Sports" – Snowmobile Safety Certification - This is a unique outdoor program offered through select high schools, giving students the opportunity to earn snowmobile safety certification while building lifelong skills.​ (Seasonal)
Groomer Operator Class
Hosted by MT Fish Wildlife & Parks every two years, this course offers a valuable opportunity for both new and returning groomer operators to connect, learn and exchange experiences. It's also a fantastic chance to engage with vendors and benefit from a highly informative class.

Annual MSA Banquet
This annual banquet is hosted by a local club during the Trans-Montana Charity Ride and takes place at a city stop along the route. If your club would like to host a future banquet, please contact your district representative for details. (February)

MSA Annual Association Group Ride
Location: Missoula - Saturday, February 13, 2027
Snowmobile Appropriations Meeting
Held annually in Helena on the last Saturday in June. Each club is required to send a Groomer Operator or representative in order to receive funding. This event is hosted by FWP.​
