Mission Statement
The Montana Snowmobile Association is a membership of snowmobilers and outdoor enthusiasts who endeavor to educate the public about the sport of snowmobiling, enhance the riding experience in our area, promote safety, and provide opportunities for family recreation. MSA is the Montana Snowmobilers voice to the Federal and State government, fighting to keep public land open for snowmobiling. MSA employs a lobbyist to represent our interest during the Legislative session every two years.  We partner with the FWP snowmobile program in the management of the state grooming program, helping to determine who gets the new groomers and distributing the annual grooming funds.

Ride Today, Preserve Tomorrow: Support Snowmobiling

Be a voice for snowmobilers across Montana by helping us protect access to our beautiful riding areas through a strong, united legislative voice. The Montana Snowmobile Association promotes safe and responsible snowmobile use through education, advocacy, and community action.

Groomed trails are more than just recreation—they’re essential for search and rescue efforts, avalanche response, and providing safe, reliable access to and from Montana’s high country, especially after a long day of playing in the backcountry.

The Montana Snowmobile Association is a 501(c)(7) nonprofit recreational organization dedicated to preserving and enhancing the snowmobiling experience for all.

Montana Snowmobile Association - Charity of Choice
Trans-Montana is the Montana Snowmobile Association’s premier charity ride and signature fundraiser. Each year, riders from across the country gather for a week-long adventure through Montana’s Rocky Mountains—exploring scenic trails, discovering welcoming small towns, and sharing the thrill of snowmobiling. Along the way, participants raise vital funds for our primary charity partner, NAMI Montana, supporting mental health services across the state.

The journey concludes at our annual MSA Banquet, where we celebrate the ride with both a live and silent auction. These auctions not only add excitement to the evening but also help us raise additional support for the cause, making Trans-Montana a powerful blend of camaraderie, adventure, and community impact.

NAMI Montana, our sponsored charity is dedicated to preventing teen suicide and supporting veterans with PTSD.

Did You Know?
The average snowmobiler rode 1,154 miles in 2022.  The number of miles ridden on average, is dependent on snow cover, so we will see if Mother Nature brings us more days of snow for riding this season!
